The $32 Million One Fund Carried

US spot Bitcoin ETFs booked a net $32.11 million inflow on July 29. Per SoSoValue data, that headline hides a lopsided tape: BlackRock’s IBIT alone drew $89.83 million while outflows from the rest of the complex clawed most of it back.

The net number is positive. The breadth is not. One fund did the buying; the others were net sellers on the day.

Who Was Actually Buying

This was concentration, not conviction. When a single issuer accounts for more than the entire net figure, the marginal allocator is one name, not a broad institutional bid.

On the Ethereum side, Morgan Stanley’s newly launched MSSE trust posted the largest inflow at $14.30 million, per SoSoValue. A new launch pulling flow is expected; it says little about the standing complex.

What Our MCP Data Says

Our MCP Insights ETF-tide data grades the current flow regime at 50 of 100, balanced, unchanged on the day. The five-day net flow still reads $494.6 million out, so July 29 is one green print inside a leaking week.

Zoom the Bitcoin ETF flow tracker and the streak counter shows just one day of inflows. Sentiment is soft too: our Fear and Greed index sits at 28, fear territory.

In roughly 11 of 22 comparable MCP ETF-tide readings since 2024-04-09, an up-rate near 51 percent, BTC resolved higher within the following 10 trading days. Close to a coin flip, which is the honest read here.

The Read And What Kills It

Primary read: neutral. A single-fund inflow inside a five-day outflow does not shift the balance either way. The highest-probability posture is defensive, not chasing one green candle.

Invalidation: a second straight session where IBIT inflows fail to offset outflows from the rest of the complex, flipping the daily net negative and dragging the tide grade below 45. That would confirm allocator retreat.

Alternative: if outflows reverse and inflows spread beyond IBIT, the tide grade lifts above 50 and the balanced read tilts constructive over the 10-day window. Watch breadth on the liquidation heatmap for confirmation.
