Seven straight inflow days, and the base rate still reads coin flip

Bitcoin spot ETFs booked a seventh consecutive session of net inflows on July 22, adding $68.99M in fresh capital (Data: Farside Investors and SoSoValue). The honest read is neutral: a seven-day accumulation run is constructive, but our MCP Insights ETF-tide signal has historically resolved higher only about half the time.

The receipts

The July 22 print of +$68.99M slowed from the prior session, yet it extended the streak to seven inflow days. Over the last five sessions, net flows total +$710.5M per our Bitcoin ETF flow tracker.

Total net assets held near $80.36B while BTC traded around $65,923, per the source feed. Flows and price are moving together here: our ETF-tide reading shows no active divergence.

The base rate

This is the 22nd effective comparable ETF-tide reading since April 9, 2024. Across those cases, price resolved higher over the following 10 trading days in roughly 11 of 22 (an up-rate near 51%). That is a slim edge, statistically close to a coin flip.

The signal’s inflow impulse sits at 79 with an inflow tilt and a grade of 53, so the direction is constructive, but the magnitude of the historical edge is small. We do not have wider base-rate history wired for this event yet, so we claim nothing beyond the ETF-tide sample.

What makes this instance different

Sentiment. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index reads 31, still in fear territory, even as institutions keep adding. Accumulation into a weak, fearful tape is a mildly constructive tell, not a green light.

What it is not: a breakout signal. Price is soft near $65.9K and the historical edge is thin, so the flows argue for patience rather than pursuit.

Risk posture

Defensive. The highest probability trade here may be no trade at all until the flow signal strengthens or sentiment turns. The constructive leg of this read rests entirely on the inflow streak; if that breaks, the read breaks with it.
