The crypto community is about to welcome an extra huge player from mainstream finance. London-based hedge fund firm, Marshall Wace, is reportedly preparing to launch a crypto investment portfolio.

Crypto Market Gaining Marshall Wace with it $55 Billion in Assets

Institutional investment firm Marshall Wace is a big player in traditional investment vehicles. The hedge fund draws its name from its two founders Sir Paul Marshall and Ian Wace. 24 years ago, these two entrepreneurs started the hedge fund and grew it to what it is today. Marshall Wace currently has $55 billion in assets under management and now moving to crypto.

London-based hedge fund Marshall Wace wishes to invest in privately owned late-stage digital finance companies. Apart from cryptocurrency at the forefront, Marshall Wace is also interested in the underlying blockchain technology, the payment systems for digital currencies, and stablecoins.

Considering all of these goals, hedge fund firm Marshall Wace is preparing a digital finance portfolio that will cover them. Additionally, the hedge fund is exploring investors for the portfolio. The CEO of the Asian branch of Marshall Wace Amit Rajpal will be overlooking the portfolio.

Institutional Investment Firm Marshall Wace Has Slowly Been Easing Into Crypto

Institutional investment firm Marshall Wace’s entry into crypto may have started at the end of May. The hedge fund participated in a funding round for crypto firm Circle together with players such as Willet Advisors, Fidelity Management, Atlas Merchant Capital, and Breyer Capital, among others. Circle managed to rake $440 million from the funding round.

Apart from the funding round, a source close to hedge fund Marshall Wace revealed that the hedge fund has recently been keen on hiring employees with crypto experience. The hire shows that it is possible that the hedge fund could be looking for personnel to manage the impending crypto portfolio.
