As per Saturday’s announcement by Meta, starting from April 11 2023, both Instagram and Facebook will stop supporting digital collectibles.
According to the release, from the stated date, users Instagram will not be able to create new posts regarding digital collectibles, but any previous posts of NFTs will remain as posts “without any shimmer effect or blockchain information,” users can, however, delete the posts whenever they feel like.
Additionally, any posts related to digital collectibles viewable via collectible tabs of each user’s profile will from the date be archived.
Regarding digital wallets, there will not be a connection to any third-party digital wallets, furthermore, users will as well not be able to view their NFTs in the associated tab or manage their third-party digital wallet connection settings.
Also, henceforth, if any users want to download their information regarding their digital collectibles, the user will have to submit a request before April 11.
Why the company is making this shocking move is not explained in the release, however, this article will be updated as soon as more information unfolds.
