Bitdeer mines record 1190 BTC in July as AI push widens

Listen: the breakdown

Market briefing: Bitdeer mined a record 1190 BTC in July, up 322% year on year, and now earns about 8.7% of all Bitcoin block rewards. BTC was trading near $79,293 as this landed, barely moved, and that silence is the story.

  • Bitdeer mined a record 1190 BTC in July, up 322% year on year.
  • It now captures roughly 8.7% of all Bitcoin block rewards, driven by its Sealminer hardware.
  • BTC sat near $79,293 and shrugged, a level our lens flags as a distribution zone.

Bitdeer just posted a record Bitcoin mining month and pushed hard into AI, yet BTC near $79,293 barely twitched. So who is actually buying this good news?

Bitdeer mined 1190 BTC in July. That is a record for the company, and a 322% jump on the same month last year. It now earns roughly 8.7% of all Bitcoin block rewards.

The engine behind the surge is its own Sealminer hardware. Owning the machines instead of renting hash rate lets Bitdeer scale output and squeeze more reward from each terahash. On paper, this is a clean operational win.

At the same time, the company is moving fast into AI infrastructure. Long-term contracts for its Malaysian AI data center are already valued at more than $800 million. Miners chasing AI compute revenue is now the standard playbook, and Bitdeer is executing it well.

So here is the honest part. This is a company story, not a market story. Bitdeer earning more block rewards does not change Bitcoin's supply schedule, its liquidity, or where the next big bid sits.

Bitcoin was trading near $79,293 as this crossed, up about 1.6% on the day but down slightly on the hour. A record mining month landed, and price did almost nothing. The press release glows; the tape yawns. That gap between narrative and reaction is exactly what we want traders watching, because it tells you who is listening and who is quietly stepping back.

A miner's win is not the market's bid

Record mining output feels bullish, but the transmission into price is weak. Bitdeer capturing 8.7% of block rewards changes who receives newly issued coins, not how many are issued. Bitcoin's supply curve is fixed by the protocol, so one miner's efficiency does not tighten supply for the whole market.

There is a subtler effect that cuts the other way. A larger, more profitable miner has more coins to potentially sell. Miners are structural sellers, funding electricity, hardware, and now $800 million of AI buildout. Strong output can quietly mean strong future supply hitting exchanges, not less.

The AI pivot matters for Bitdeer's equity, less so for BTC. Diversifying revenue into data centers makes the company more durable through a mining squeeze. That is good governance for shareholders. It does nothing to move the marginal Bitcoin bid today.

This is why we separate fact from read. The facts are excellent: record output, rising reward share, a funded AI expansion. The read is that none of it supplies fresh, sustained demand for coins at $79,000.

So the real question is behavioral, not fundamental. When retail sees a headline like this, many read it as confirmation the rally is real and pile in. That belief, more than the mining data itself, is what actually feeds into price, and it usually feeds it in the wrong direction.

Why BTC shrugged while retail cheers

Start with the tape. BTC held near $79,293 and refused to break higher on the news. A market that ignores good news near resistance is rarely a strong market. It is often a tired one.

Our read places $79,000 to $79,500 as a zone where larger players have been distributing coins. Positive headlines like Bitdeer's record month are useful cover for that. Retail buys the optimistic story; bigger holders sell into the buying. The mining data becomes liquidity, not lift.

BTC leads, and everything downstream inherits its hesitation. If Bitcoin cannot convert good news into a clean break, ETH has even less reason to run. Momentum simply is not there to pull it.

Alts sit at the fragile end of this chain. They rally hardest when BTC trends and bleed fastest when it stalls. A flat, top-heavy Bitcoin leaves altcoin longs exposed to sharp, sudden flushes.

Notice what this event did NOT do. It did not spark a squeeze, it did not reclaim a new high, and it did not shift open interest in a way that screams demand. A genuinely bullish catalyst usually leaves a mark on price within hours. This one left a shrug, and a shrug near a known distribution zone is information, not noise.

Signs the shrug turns into a slide

The first thing to watch is a daily close. If BTC prints a weak upper wick near $79,000 and closes soft, that shooting-star behavior would confirm sellers are defending the zone rather than buyers breaking it.

Volume is the tell most retail ignores. We are tracking a bearish divergence: price grinding to higher highs while volume makes lower highs. Fewer buyers pushing each new high is not strength, it is fading participation dressed up as a rally.

Momentum backs the same story. Bearish crosses on 4-hour trend and strength indicators point to buyers running out of fuel. If those stay bearish while price stalls, the odds tilt toward a downside resolution.

Invalidation matters just as much, so we keep it explicit. A decisive reclaim and hold above $82,000, ideally on rising volume, would break our cautious read. A push through $89,000 would force us to respect an upside squeeze instead. Until then, the bearish structure stands.

On the downside, the levels are clear. Losing $61,000 opens the door toward $58,000, below the prior low. The zone we genuinely care about sits lower, between $55,000 and $44,000, where a real capitulation could reset the market. That is where patient buyers wait, not at a record mining headline near resistance.

What Bitdeer's print means for positioning

The ParadiseTeam treats this record month as narrative, not a new bid. Bitdeer's output does not change the map. BTC near $79,293 still sits inside the $79,000 to $79,500 band where we see larger holders offloading, not accumulating.

The mechanism is simple and old. Good company news arrives, late retail reads it as permission to chase, and that fresh long liquidity gives bigger players something to sell into. High leverage on the retail side just makes the eventual squeeze cleaner. The market has watched this movie many times.

So the level to respect is $82,000 as weekly resistance overhead, and $89,000 as the line that would flip us if a squeeze forces shorts to cover. Below, $61,000 is the major liquidation shelf. A break there points toward $58,000, then the $55,000 to $44,000 zone we view as the real reaccumulation area.

The smart-money posture, as we read it, is patience. They are waiting for capitulation and absorption that has not happened yet. Until a genuine flush clears leverage, rallies on company-specific headlines look like distribution windows, not launchpads.

Risk note: this is our interpretation, not a certainty. Size positions so an upside break past $82,000 does not hurt, and never treat a bullish headline as a reason to abandon your invalidation level.

I only notice the total supply slowly shrinking over time, not these daily movements. Best to not rush things.

I keep checking my watchlist and seeing the price just... sitting there, even with big news like this. It makes me wonder if someone is holding it back, or if it's just me overthinking, przepraszam.

Always an eye-opener when these big players move and the market just… shrugs. Reminds me of that fellow in Kumasi always talking up his latest 'sure bet' while I'm just watching charts...

that's exactly how it felt when the Lira would drop and dollar remained still, until it suddenly didn't.. liquidity always decides.

that Bitdeer pushing into AI is an interesting signal... I keep thinking of all the "AI coins" popping up and wonder how to distinguish the real from the hype.

Remember that quiet period where everyone was yelling about "AI integration" and prices just sat there like a wireframe with no data?! Feels like that again. 🫠
