Bitcoin Lightning Network

Switzerland crypto payment processor Bitcoin Suisse and its European counterpart Worldline have integrated Lightning Network into its crypto payment system.

Crypto-financial service provider Bitcoin Suisse announced a press release on Tuesday, November 09, 2021. The incorporation of the Lightning Network aims to make Bitcoin transactions on the platform cheaper and faster.

Lightning Network is a Game-Changer Innovation: Armin Schmid

The Bitcoin Lightning Network avoids high fees and enables faster transactions by being a second-layer solution on the Bitcoin blockchain that uses smart contracts. The network came into existence in 2015 when founders Joseph Poon and Thaddeus Dryja proposed it to solve Bitcoin’s scalability issue.

The head of Bitcoin Suisse Pay Armin Schmid stated that Lightning transactions enabled higher throughput per second at a price of a cent. The application is, therefore, a game-changing innovation for crypto applications.

Schmid added that this transition is a step towards scaling crypto applications and the emergence of crypto-financial service provider Bitcoin Suisse to a mainstream application. Moreover, according to Bitcoin Suisse, the move helps promote wider acceptance of crypto technology in Switzerland.

The ease of transactions provided by the Lightning Network will also be available to users in Europe and out of Switzerland through Worldline. The European counterpart of Switzerland crypto payment processor Bitcoin Suisse has also integrated the services of Lightning Network for the same advantages.

The Explosive Growth of the Lightning Network

The Bitcoin Lightning Network has enjoyed explosive growth in 2021. Social media platform Twitter recently started using the network for its tipping jar feature. Lightning Network has also been rolled out in El Salvador following the country’s grant of legal tender to Bitcoin.

In September, Lightning Network’s capacity achieved an all-time high of 2,904 BTC. The capacity has been a 170% increase since January. It is anticipated that incorporation with the largest crypto broker in Switzerland may fuel this growth even further.
