Bitcoin holds firm while ETF money keeps leaving

Bitcoin is holding just under $65,000 while US spot ETF money keeps walking out: net flows have now printed a fourth straight outflow session, and price still refuses to break. Our data has a name for that gap. It is distribution, and the honest read is neutral, because this exact ETF-tide setup has resolved higher only about half the time.

The two readings that disagree

Per Farside Investors and SoSoValue data shown in our Bitcoin ETF flow tracker, US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a net -49.8 million dollars on 2026-07-28, extending the outflow streak to four sessions. The trailing five-day total sits at -457.7 million dollars.

Price has not followed the money down. It sits under the $65,000 line the source feed flags, and our MCP Insights tags the split directly: price firm while net flows turn negative. That is allocator distribution, not a panic.

How this split usually resolves

Across roughly 22 comparable MCP ETF-tide readings since 2024-04-09, BTC resolved higher within the following 10 trading days in about 11 of them: an up-rate near 51 percent. A coin flip is not a signal. The tide grade reads 50 out of 100, balanced, unchanged on the day.

Which side is paying to be wrong

The leverage picture is quiet, and that matters. Our funding squeeze reading sits at 16, low, so the crowded side is not stretched enough to force a violent unwind. Flush odds on open interest read 45 and falling.

Nobody is being margin-called into this. The selling is deliberate redemption, not forced flow. Sentiment is nervous rather than broken: the Fear and Greed Index reads 29, fear territory, and sweep odds on the nearest liquidation cluster ticked up to 26 near the $62,000 area the source feed names.

What it means for risk

For a trader this is a no-trade bias until the tape picks a side. A defensive posture fits while flows bleed and price stalls. The level that converts the read down is a daily close below $62,000 with a fifth outflow session and the tide grade breaking below 45. The level that converts it up is a reclaim of $65,000 with net flows flipping positive.

This is market analysis and education, not financial advice. Nothing here is an entry, a target, or a position recommendation. Distribution can persist longer than it looks like it should, and a 51 percent base rate is close enough to random that invalidation and sizing matter more than the direction.
