Bitcoin ETF inflows: a loud streak, a quieter tape
US spot Bitcoin ETFs just logged a headline inflow run, yet the freshest MCP ETF-tide print already flipped negative. The net edge here is close to a coin-flip, and the honest posture is patience rather than chasing the number.
The on-chain Insider feed reports 7 straight inflow days totaling +$999.3M, which it calls the strongest streak since early May.
What the reconciled data actually shows
Per our Bitcoin ETF flow tracker (data from Farside Investors and SoSoValue), the reconciled print for 2026-07-23 was a net outflow of -$225.2M, which reset the MCP ETF-tide streak to ‘out’ at one day.
The tide is not collapsing. Five-day net flow is still positive at +$406.1M, and cumulative flow since launch stands at 51,677.6. One negative day inside a positive week is noise, not a trend.
Who was forced? Nobody
ETF flow is discretionary allocation, not margin liquidation. There are no forced sellers in a redemption print. That is exactly why one loud day matters less than the tide, and why a coin-flip deserves a shrug rather than a trade.
The context grades
In roughly 11 of 22 effective comparable MCP ETF-tide readings since 2024-04-09, price resolved higher over the following 10 trading days: an up-rate near 51%. The current tide grade is 53. That is the definition of no edge.
The rest of the board agrees there is no fuel for a violent move up. Squeeze sits at 16, so the crowded side is nowhere near being squeezed, and the fear and greed reading is 28, still in fear. You can check the full board on our live MCP Insights.
Scenario map
Primary read: neutral. With the streak freshly flipped to ‘out’ and edge near a coin-flip, there is no reason to lean hard either way. The read is invalidated if the MCP ETF-tide streak flips back to net inflows and holds three-plus sessions with the grade breaking above 65, which would signal a genuine inflow-led trend.
Alternative: if flows re-accelerate and the grade climbs, continuation higher is favored; if outflows deepen while fear tips toward capitulation, a deeper flush becomes the risk.
Risk posture
Defensive-to-neutral. With no squeeze fuel and a coin-flip base case, the highest-probability trade may be no trade at all until the flow tide picks a side.
