The payment company Visa has unveiled a strategic partnership with Wirex, a crypto firm to launch crypto cards in the UK and 40 other countries including Asia Pacific countries.
“We’re excited to announce that we’ve signed a long-term strategic global partnership with payments company network, Visa. It’s another big milestone for us, and will be important in our growth worldwide, particularly in the APAC region,” Wirex wrote in a February 13 release.
The partnership includes an agreement that requires Wirex to become a member of Visa in the UK as well as the APAC, Europe and the US which will allow the crypto firm to issue crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards directly in more than 40 countries globally.
Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC, said “It’s great to strengthen our partnership with Visa, who have played an important role in allowing us to bridge the gap between the traditional and digital economies. Visa’s proven commitment to safety, security and innovation will help us to continue developing a next-generation app and card.”
Wirex however concluded that it is open to working with Visa in order to expand its services globally, it added that it is close to unveiling another card issuing partnership in Australia very soon.

Wirex History With Visa
Wirex has a notable history with the global payment giant Visa, crypto firm Wirex, in 2015 became the first to develop a crypto-enabled debit card which let users hold, buy, sell and also exchange cryptocurrencies which can be spent in over 80 million locations where Visa is accepted the globe.
Also at the end of 2020, Wirex secured principal membership with Visa in Europe.
