Ryan Wyatt, the head of gaming at YouTube, has revealed that he will be leaving the online video sharing platform to join Polygon Studios, the gaming and NFT arm of Polygon, as its CEO.

Wyatt is officially leaving YouTube in February after eight years on the platform. During his time as the head of gaming on the platform, YouTube gaming has seen over 250 million daily logged users per day with hundreds of billions of watch time. Blockchain enthusiast Wyatt also oversaw the transition of Twitch streamers to YouTube.
While announcing the resignation, new Polygon Studio CEO Wyatt stated that he was fascinated by the blockchain app development and beyond thrilled to enter the Web3 space. Polygon is a blockchain network built on Ethereum. The network helps users build decentralized apps that are not tied to their own blockchain fees, hurdles, or performance. Polygon Studio was previously called MATIC. Polygon has promised to commit $100 million to projects that Polygon Studio will undertake.
Ryan Wyatt Bringing Gaming Expertise to Polygon Studio
YouTube’s head of gaming, Ryan Wyatt, will be bringing his expertise from YouTube gaming to Polygon. Ryan is set to introduce gaming and other media entities to the web3 space. In a Twitter DM with The Verge, Wyatt said that his focus would be on Polygon’s non-tech-related efforts.
In his announcement, blockchain enthusiast Wyatt clarified that his role is to grow the developer ecosystem through investment, marketing, and developer support. He will also help bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3. Apart from Gaming, Wyatt will also handle Entertainment, Fashion, News, Sports, and many more.
