Wetjen to Lead Public Affairs Efforts of FTX US

The West Realm Shires Services company FTX US made the announcement yesterday. Former CFTC commissioner Mark Wetjen will be leading public affairs efforts of the leading US-regulated crypto exchange.

FTX US new additional Mark Wetjen is bringing his vast 20-year experience in law, policymaking, regulatory strategy, and exchange operations.

Being a regulated crypto exchange, FTX US will require Wetjen’s expertise in communication with the regulatory and legislative bodies in the United States, including SEC, CFTC, and various House and Senate committees. Moreover, Wetjen will assist in advising FTX US on compliance standards and reporting operations.

Commenting on the announcement, the President of FTX US Brett Harrison said the exchange is looking forward to Mark’s stewardship of its regulatory strategy and communications. Former CFTC commissioner Mark Wetjen, on the other hand, is looking forward to helping FTX US continue to expand its products offerings in a manner that ensures respect to the rules of a fair and orderly market.

Wetjen’s Vast Experience

FTX US new addition Mark Wetjen was at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission during the Obama presidency. He serves alongside Gary Gensler, who was the chairman of CFTC at the time. Mark Wetjen and Gary Gensler worked to implement the infamous regulatory overhaul demanded by the Dodd-Frank act.

Ex-CFTC commissioner Mark Wetjen briefly served as the acting chairman for six months after Gensler’s departure, before moving on to MIAX Futures as the CEO.

While at MIAX, Mark Wetjen focused on crypto-derivative products and strategic initiatives. Wetjen was also a member of the board of directives of LedgerX. LedgerX was recently acquired by FTX US and rebranded to FTX US Derivatives.

LedgerX was the first licensed crypto-native derivatives in the exchange in the United States. Wetjen will continue to serve on the board of directors for FTX US Derivatives even in his new role.

According to Wetjen’s LinkedIn profile, he is also an Advisor Board Member for BlockTower Capital and Chamber of Digital Commerce.
