Scammers across the globe are leveraging the popularity of cryptocurrencies among the world population to defraud people of their money, and in order to ensure the safety of funds of Binance customers, the exchange has launched an anti-scam campaign in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
Over the past years, either through email with a harmful link, or phone calls and any other possible means, Binance has always been engaging law enforcement agencies across the globe to prevent crimes related to cryptocurrency.
“Ensuring the security of our ecosystem and protecting the Binance community is at the core of what we do. We believe this healthy approach is the only way forward for crypto,” Binance noted in a blog post.
According to the release, Binance started the campaign in Hong Kong, together with the Hong Kong law enforcement agency, it has built a “targeted alert and crime prevention message that included helpful tips”, Usually sent to users whenever they want to initiate withdrawal on the platform.

Thus far, the campaign has been highly effective, Binance confirmed in the post, adding that about 20.4% of users had either reconsidered whether or not the transaction is legit.
“Hong Kong Police is putting an emphasis on effective crime prevention. Consequently, we joined forces with different stakeholders, including Binance, to deliver the key crime prevention advice to the relevant users,” the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau for the Hong Kong Police Force noted.
