Digital asset marketplace Bakkt has partnered with Google to add the “Bakkt Card” into Google Pay. “Bakkt Card,” is the virtual Visa debit card issued by the crypto exchange to its users to make purchases of everyday goods and services online.
With this new addition, users can use the Bakkt Card online and in stores available on Google Pay.
While announcing the partnership, Bakkt explained that users will have their cryptocurrency balances converted to fiat currency to enable transactions. Bakkt users were already able to buy, sell, send and spend digital assets on the platform. The spending will now be extended to Google Pay.
Google Cloud to be the Preferred Cloud Provider for Bakkt
Bakkt Google Pay’s support is not the only feature birthed from this partnership. Bakkt will also be using Google Cloud as its preferred cloud provider. Google Cloud will power Bakkt’s solutions and market them to reputable retailers and merchants in the U.S.
Bakkt’s solutions will be focused on the fields of artificial intelligence, machine-learning capabilities, and geolocation functionality. For the geolocation functionality, digital asset marketplace Bakkt will leverage Google Cloud’s industry-leading resources to develop deep, location-aware business insights.
Commenting on the partnership, Bakkt CEO Gavin Michael said it is a testament to the crypto exchange’s strong position in the digital asset marketplace.
Bakkt plans to take advantage of this new partnership with Google to provide its consumers with a real-time, secure, and reliable way to enjoy digital assets.
