There is a new partnership in the crypto community that will see RCD Espanyol become the first La Liga football club to accept crypto payments.
The partnership is with Barcelona and Estonia-based iGaming token Crypto Snack. Starting next season in August, RCD Espanyol fans will be able to buy game tickets, merchandise, food, and beverages and pay in cryptocurrency.
Crypto and Football Industry Bond Continues to Grow
There seems to be a growing bond between digital assets and the football industry. Over the past few years, there have been numerous collaborations between football clubs and crypto companies. The collaborations have been through promoted exchanges as sponsors or accepting crypto as a payment option.
For instance, soccer giant the Mexican Tigres partnered with Latin American digital asset exchange Bitso to enable its supporters to buy match passes in crypto.
Until now, La Liga has not been a part of the heavy crypto-football industry collaborations. However, that is about to change with this new partnership between RCD Espanyol and Crypto Snack.

RCD Espanyol’s CEO Mao Ye Wu stated that the partnership offers huge advantages both on and off the pitch. The benefits extend to both Pericos and all soccer fans who visit the club’s facilities. Wu added that the step sets La Liga football club RCD Espanyol as pioneers in a field that is not the future but already the present.
iGaming token Crypto Snack’s CEO Stuart Morrison also had good things to say about the partnership with RCD Espanyol. Morrison termed the team-up as a great endeavor that will grant Espanyol fans a fun, efficient way to support their team through the use of SNACK and other cryptocurrencies.
