Binance to Airdrop $100 in BNB to Users in the Most Affected Area in Turkey
Reacting to the recent natural disaster in Turkey, Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange has announced an airdrop of $5 million in BNB to users in the affected region of Turkey.
On Monday, February 6, an earthquake hit a region in Turkey and Syria, leading to the death of thousands of people in both countries, and following the global awareness of the event, there has been aid from different parts of the world.
As a response to the disaster, Binance is looking to airdrop $100 in BNB to the region most affected by the disaster in Turkey.
According to Binance, eligible users will be identified based on Proof of Address (POA) completed before February 6 in the most affected 10 cities of Turkey including Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay.
Binance furthered that while the above-mentioned method has its limitations, it remains the best method it could use to identify users who are most affected by the event and it hopes it could reach out to as many users in the targeted areas.
In addition to the above, Binance Charity has unveiled a public formation account for folks who wish to reach out to those affected by the earthquake.
“We will convert to TRY and give it to an authorized NGO to help people in need. Donations to the Emergency Earthquake Appeal will be accepted in BTC, ETH, BNB, BUSD, XRP,” Binance said in the blog post.
The CEO of Binance while commenting on this event said:
“The recent earthquakes in Turkey have had a devastating impact on so many people and communities. We hope that our efforts will bring some relief to those affected. We are also calling on our industry peers to once again come together to offer support in these times of crisis.”
