Yesterday, Jack Maller’s crypto-based company, Strike, has announced Shopify Integration for Bitcoin Lightning Payments. This new feature is expected to make it easier for merchants to receive Bitcoin payments from their customers in the form of US Dollars.
Here is a little background information about Strike.
Strike is an instant payment network run on Bitcoin technology to aid monetary transactions in Bitcoin. Strike works in partnership with Prime Trust, LLC as the intermediary that holds its customer assets to facilitate payments.
Addressing the integration at a Miami Beach Conference, Maller bragged his ‘King Gambit’ would restore the glory of Bitcoin to its payment roots. Maller believes that once the Bitcoin network is made more available, then it can become a valuable tool to change the world.
Leveraging Bitcoin for its cheap payment network offers a better alternative to the traditional “caviar-eating” bank-issued credit cards.
“There’s not been since 1949 a superior payments network that allows us to innovate.” he is quoted. It is high time Maller believes we create a superior payments network from scratch for ourselves.
In addition to Shopify, Maller also reported on Strike’s partnership with NCR, the world’s largest Point-of-Sale Supplier.
Strike-Shopify Integration Operation
Maller’s announcement on this integration could very likely be why mainstream Lightning Network adoption skyrockets.
Shopify customers will now be able to diversify payment options and reach an untapped global market purchasing power. The API’s low-cost processing will help save some coins that would have otherwise been charged for bank and broker fees.
The new integration will seamlessly support Bitcoin to USD payment conversions to help roll out merchants’ complexities and uncertainities in holding Bitcoin.
