Polygon and Mastercard Partner for Web 3 Accelerator Program

To help emerging artists set up and manage their brands in web 3 space, Polygon and Mastercard have partnered to launch a web 3 musician accelerator program.

The global payment giant Mastercard disclosed the partnership via a blog post on January 7, the partnership which is aimed at launching the “Mastercard Accelerator Program” will assist five artists to build their careers through the web 3 space.

“The artists will gain exclusive access to special events, music releases and more. A first-of-its-kind curriculum will teach the artists how to build (and own) their brand through Web3 experiences like minting NFTs, representing themselves in virtual worlds and establishing an engaged community,” the post reads.

In addition, to the above, Mastercard will also unveil an NFT collection which is the “Mastercard Music Pass” for those who are not chosen for the program, this is to assist holders with educational resources through collaboration with brands purposely to help budding artists (musicians) have more exposure to on how web 3 can be integrated to the music industry.

While reacting to the announcement, Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Watt noted that “Web3 has the potential to empower a new type of artist that can grow a fanbase, make a living and introduce novel mediums for self-expression and connection on their own terms.”

MasterCard and Polygon Web 3 Venture

Of recent, Polygon and MasterCard have been in partnerships for web 3 projects. Polygon, for instance, partnered with global music giant Warner Music Group and e-commerce and interactive platform maker LGN.io to build LGND, a web 3 music platform.

MasterCard in its web 3 and crypto ventures partnered with Coinbase to enable the use of MasterCard cards to buy NFT in the Coinbase NFT marketplace.

Also last year, the payment giant also joined forces with Paxos to enable banks to offer crypto Trading services. Additionally, MasterCard unveiled a crypto fraud protection tool in October last year, a tool that will enable banks to prevent fraud on crypto merchants’ platforms.
