Goldman Sachs to Launch a New Crypto Classification System

Goldman Sachs, a US multinational investment bank has entered two new partnerships with MSCI and Coin Metrics to introduce a new crypto assets classification system.

The new classification system known as Datonomy will give crypto investors a standard way to analyze and view the virtual assets ecosystem.

The new system after launching will let crypto market participants track trends in different segments of crypto including smart contract platforms and decentralized finance (DeFi), and also screen various assets.

“The collaboration brings together MSCI’s expertise in critical decision support tools and services, Coin Metrics’ intelligence in the digital assets space and Goldman Sachs’ innovative platforms paired with over 150 years of experience in financial markets to help solve this problem for clients,” said Anne Marie Darling, Goldman Sach’s head of marquee client strategy and distribution.

According to the release, MCSI owns the new classification system, also, MCSI is the sole administrator of the system.

However, to make the crypto classification tool accessible to users, the tool can be accessed through data subscriptions from the three firms involved.
