Canada played a leading role in Gemini crypto exchange’s global expansion, this is why the exchange is looking to show commitment to Canada and has filed for pre-registration undertaking with Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).

Gemini was like: Hey! Canada is like Gemini’s ride-or-die buddy in its global crypto adventure, you’ve been there for us, so we’re filing for pre-registration with the OSC.

“We are taking a key step in our application to register as a restricted dealer with the OSC,” said Cynthia Del Pozo Garcia, the Director, Strategy & Corporate Development of Gemini in a Wednesday blog post.

Having been at the center of the global crypto management space after the 2021 approval of publicly traded crypto ETFs, Gemini is looking to serve as a sub-custodian to a lot of Canadian crypto ETFs via its dedicated Fund Solution Business (FSB).

Over the years, Gemini has been flexing its brain muscles, assisting regulators in getting their ‘crypto grooves’ on with thoughtful regulations, matchmaking the crypto world with consumers protection and innovation in a regulatory love story, “we will continue to do this work,” Cynthia wrote in the blog post.

Gemini boasts several licenses globally including an E-Money License from the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, a New York trust license, and an E-Money License from the Central Bank of Ireland amongst others.
