IOTA developers have developed a plugin that enables any WordPress site to accept IOTA with only a few clicks. Every website built on the popular PHP-based open-source content management system WordPress may now take IOTA coins.
Alexander (@shortkatien), the creator of the peer-to-peer technology and cryptocurrency blog Short-Aktien.de, has developed a plugin which is a browser extension that allows websites to accept IOTA token payments.
The “Pay with IOTA” plugin may be found on the WordPress official website. The plugin makes use of the IOTA Button function, which is a ready-to-use open-source tool for making retail payments on IOTA.
IOTA’s four inputs
The IOTA WordPress plugin requires just four inputs: the recipient’s Firefly address, the preset payment amount, the currency which is given for ease of computation, all payments are in IOTA tokens, and finally, the user’s or website’s name.
The plugin supports crypto-denominated contributions as well as a number of e-commerce options.
What is IOTA?
IOTA is a cryptocurrency and open-source distributed ledger intended for the Internet of Things (IoT). It stores transactions on its ledger using a directed acyclic graph, which has the potential to be more scalable than blockchain-based distributed ledgers.
IOTA does not utilize miners to verify transactions; instead, nodes must approve two prior transactions before issuing a new transaction on the network. As a result, transactions may be issued without fees, making micro-transactions easier.
The network presently reaches consensus via the IOTA Foundation’s coordinator node. The network is presently centralized since the coordinator is a single point of failure.
More retail payment mechanisms in the future
The idea is well received by IOTA’s plugin engineer’s followers, who are proposing future enhancements. For example, the audience is curious whether such an instrument can communicate with a wallet like Metamask.
In addition, the developer hinted at the possibility of payment instruments being released for other popular CMS systems, such as Joomla and Drupal.
