AMC CEO Is Now Considering Adding Dogecoin Payments

AMC CEO Adam Aron

Renowned movie theatre AMC could potentially add Dogecoin to the list of cryptocurrencies it will accept by the end of this year. The possibility is stemming from AMC CEO Adam Aron who posted a poll on Twitter, asking his followers to vote for or against Doge payments.

Dogecoin Fans Want the Meme Stock to Accept the Meme Crypto

Last week, the entertainment franchise confirmed plans to begin accepting Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Ethereum for online ticket and concession payments.

The dedicated community of Dogecoin fans immediately started protesting why the meme cryptocurrency was left out.

Dogecoin and AMC Entertainment coincidentally happen to share the meme status. The story of Dogecoin’s inception from a meme cryptocurrency of the Shiba Inu is no secret. AMC, on the other hand, is known as a leading “meme stock.”

Renowned movie theatre AMC got its “meme stock” title from a group of Reddit traders who decided to start buying low-value stocks in January. Nokia, GameStop, and AMC happened to be part of the low-value stocks. AMC CEO Adam Aron went on to embrace the meme stock status, further pushing the sobriquet.

The complaints from Doge fans seem to have reached Aron. He went on to request for the opinion of his Twitter followers whether AMC should explore accepting Dogecoin. The Twitter users had the opportunity to either vote “Yes, for sure do it,” or “No, a waste of effort.”

Within 20 minutes, Aron’s poll had garnered nearly 10,000 responses. Of the responses, over 70 percent of them were in favor of renowned movie theatre AMC accepting the meme cryptocurrency.

Dogecoin’s 2021 Success

If at all the decision will be based on AMC CEO Adam Aron’s Twitter poll, Doge payments will make it to the movie theater. Dogecoin has experienced quite a success this year. With the backing of personalities such as billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Cuban, the meme cryptocurrency has risen from $ 0.02 in January to now trading at $ 0.2107.

Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks and car dealer Post Oak Motor Cars are among the few companies currently accepting Doge payments. Its addition to AMC Entertainment would be a remarkable step for the meme cryptocurrencies.
