The CEO of the online accommodation-booking platform Brian Chesky revealed that crypto payments were the most requested feature from Airbnb users.
Chesky had asked people on Twitter to write down something they would want Airbnb to launch in 2022. He gave the respondents two days to reply with their wishes. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky later posted the top six suggestions from approximately 4,000 responses.
Crypto payments topped the list, followed by pricing displays, a guest loyalty program, updated cleaning fees, more long-term stays and discounts, and better customer service.
Airbnb Could Accept Crypto Payments
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky mentioned that the company was already working on most of the demands. Crypto payments were the most popular, and crypto enthusiasts can start getting their coins ready for the accommodation-booking platform.
Airbnb currently accepts Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, Amex, and JCB. On Chesky’s Twitter thread, most of the coins recommended were Bitcoin, Ether, and Dogecoin.
Chesky clarified that crypto payments are inclusive of a variety of token ideas. It goes to show that Airbnb has given much thought to the idea of crypto payments and decided that it will entail “a variety of tokens.”
Airbnb’s Entry into the Crypto Industry is Inevitable
Brian Chesky’s Twitter thread is not the first time Airbnb is getting the addition of crypto payments requests. In September, Chesky told Fox Business that he got plenty of requests about crypto payments from Airbnb customers.
In the same interview, Chesky revealed that Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong used to work for the online accommodation-booking platform Airbnb as its technical product manager. Armstrong is now among the wealthiest people globally while running the most successful crypto exchange.
