Coinbase has been going through a tough time recently, despite this, it has not in any way stopped the crypto firm, in a deal announced on Thursday, Coinbase has now become the official blockchain platform of Seattle Storm.
In an attempt to engage more people in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, Coinbase has announced its partnership deal with Seattle Storm, an American professional basketball team. The partnership deal is the first of its kind by any WNBA franchise.
As part of the deal, every Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) will be set up with a Coinbase wallet and this will of course extend Coinbase tentacles.
According to Jessica Williams, the Director of Brand Partnerships at Coinbase, “At Coinbase, we are dedicated to experiences that encourage fans to engage with the crypto economy because the best way to learn about crypto is by participating.”
Williams furthered that; “Our partnership with the Seattle Storm is an opportunity to further both of our commitments to advancing economic freedom and educating fans and players in women’s sports around the benefits of web3.”

Seattle Storm is a four-time WNBA championship team with quite a lot of supporters in the US, this deal is expected to attract more crypto enthusiasts across the country.
However, many comments on Twitter following the deal’s announcement have been negative, Although, a few tweets can not be used to quantify fans’ views.
With many calling crypto “scam,” “gross,” or a “Ponzi scheme,” some expressed their concerns regarding the recently lost values of Coinbase, a few others took the chance to criticize WNBA itself.
