According to statistics provided by a prominent monitoring site, the number of locations offering crypto ATM services has expanded significantly this year. Since January, the number of Bitcoin ATMs has quadrupled, with over 80 nations now hosting teller machines that exchange bitcoins for fiat currency.
Over 30,000 Bitcoin ATMs In Use Globally
The availability of digital currencies has risen in a year when cryptocurrency markets have reached all-time highs, and bitcoin ATMs have played a significant role. Their number has now surpassed 30,000, more than doubling from the start of 2021.
According to Coin ATM Radar, 14,016 registered locations enabled automated teller services for popular cryptocurrencies on January 1. And as of October 27, their total number had risen to 30,011.
According to the monitoring website, 628 Bitcoin ATMs and other crypto teller services are scattered over 76 countries, operated by 628 businesses. With almost 26,000 sites, the United States is the top, followed by Canada with just under 2,000 and the European Union as a whole with just 1,353.
Spain (155) and bitcoin-friendly Switzerland (130) have seen a growth of crypto teller devices, but not all trends have been beneficial. Other big markets have seen a drop in their numbers, such as Austria, which has dropped from a high of 156 in June to 140 today, and the United Kingdom, which has dropped from 229 on January 1 to 98 as of Wednesday.
The supported cryptocurrencies differ from each ATM, but the majority of them allow you to buy bitcoin (BTC) and sell one or more of the other main coins, including bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH), and litecoin (LTC) (LTC). Some accept tether (USDT) as a stablecoin, while others accept popular cryptocurrencies like dogecoin (DOGE).
